Creobroter gemmatus, commonly known as the Jeweled Flower Mantis, is a small, brightly colored mantis species native to Southeast Asia. Known for its striking coloration and ornate wing patterns, this species typically ranges from light green to cream, with eye-catching false eye spots on its hindwings that are revealed in a deimatic (threat) display. Adults reach about 1.5 inches (3.5–4 cm) in length, making them a compact and visually stunning addition to any mantis collection.
Creobroter gemmatus thrives in warm, humid environments (75–85°F / 24–29°C, 60–80% humidity) and prefers a well-ventilated, vertical enclosure with plenty of foliage or fake plants for perching and hiding. They are active, agile hunters, feeding on small flies, crickets, and other appropriately sized insects. This species is known for its bold personality, fast reflexes, and beautiful mimicry of flower petals, making the Jeweled Flower Mantis a favorite among mantis enthusiasts—especially those looking for an elegant yet manageable species.
